Rachel was digging for worms...

And made a worm habitat...

Which sparked the idea of making a compost...

We looked up what a worm needs to survive, and added some egg shells and coffee grounds for our natural composters to munch on!!

Benjamin found a new friend too...a wounded butterfly.

He decided to give it some sugar water and watched over it. He decided that if it wasn't going to make it, at least it could be with a new friend when it passed on.

This is Joey, the kids' newest friend. As far as we can tell after researching him, he is a long-toed salamander. The kids learned lots of great facts about this little guy!
