SCHOOL!!

Well, we are still smack dab in the middle of winter around here... which is a great time to get school done because we are inside a lot more.

For Bible, we have been listening to this Audio Bible, as well as the kids have been doing handwriting practice... Rachel has been practicing her letters, and Ben has been writing scripture.

For LA, I am reading "Stuart Little" to the kids aloud. They are doing a lapbook with this as well...

Here is Ben's...

And Rachel's...

They are also plugging away at their spelling, and grammar lessons. Today they learned about complex sentences. This is Rachel's...

And Ben's...

This is a great resource for their writing!

The kids have also been learning how to use a dictionary... I realized I really needed to teach them this skill since I've been relying so much on Google! It's still a good skill to have...

Both kids are on disc 3 in their teaching textbooks lessons.

Rachel's...

Ben's...

Rachel started a unit on structures for science. We are using this resource...

We did this fun experiment where she was the "foundation" and I was the "wind"...

She has learned about building materials, purpose, and frames so far...

She did this fun experiment and as you can see in the picture, she had a blast!

When she was done, she wrote up a report on her experiment.

She also made this graph...

And, of course, she made this awesome snow fort structure!

Ben is doing simple machines for science.

We read this book today, has some information about wedges, levers, and wheels.

Ben has been working on worksheets...

 Building paper simple machine models...

And making a ton of simple machines out of lego and K-Nex!

In social studies the kids have been learning about each province...

The kids have been spending a lot of time outside for PE... playing, shovelling, hauling in wood, tons of sledding in the yard, and even a skating party!

There are still 5 more weeks of soccer and I'm hoping by then the weather will be warming up so we can get outside even more.

Rachel is doing great in ballet, I am amazed at how beautifully she dances and how strong it is making her.

Both kids are doing amazing in their music classes and I always love to here the praise reports from their teachers each week.
