Lesson of the Day
Today we did the letter "O". I try to combine reading/writing, Bible, art and science (or social) into one lesson, then do math separately, and extra art projects as well. This seems to work well for their level right now. So, today we did "O" is for obey (we read the story of Jonah, how he disobeyed God, then later obeyed God). Then, the story of Jonah and the big fish tied nicely in with the other word we would be doing: Ocean! So, we did a bit of a science lesson and made this art project; we made our own ocean/aquarium. I love how kids can find enjoyment out of the most simple things. And, can't you just see the pride on their faces for their accomplishment!
Later in the day, I got out the kids' baby pictures and the kids and I sat down and looked through all of them. WOW! I know people say they grow up fast; BUT, do they grow up fast!! Now I am teaching pre school to my babies, and Benjamin will be doing kindergarten next year! It amazes me how quickly life passes by. My lesson for the day, aside from everything I gained from one of our family's most loved Bible stories, is to slow down and enjoy life, my kids, our family. I learned to do as a child does and find joy in the little things; to be proud about what, in Him, I have accomplished and how far He has brought me. Everyday I am blessed with being able to teach my children, and everyday I learn even more.
WOW!!!! so right Sara I love you :)
