The Letter "V"

"You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings" Psalm 23:5

We did "V" is for volcano! We talked about how, in David's day, a host would anoint the head of a special guest with oil, signifying they were a special, honored guest. I put oil on the kids' heads, and told them that this passage means they are special to God. Then, we talked about how He loves us so much that He blesses us with more than enough; that our "cup overflows" with blessings, like a volcano!

Then, the oil was put to another use; our science experiment! We made some lava...colored water, oil, and salt. Which is heavier, and which is lighter? I was amazed that Benjamin was able to predict correctly exactly what would happen! The lighter than water oil floated in the water until it  was pushed down by the heavier salt. Once the salt settled, the oil rose again until we added more salt. The created a really cool lava lamp affect.

Then we made a little volcano craft...

...and finished off with The Magic School Bus "Blows it's Top"!

Later that evening, Dad joined us for another fun experiment...our erupting volcano...

...colored water, dish soap, vinegar, and baking soda!
